Architecture

Named for the way the home is organized as rooms along a unifying spine, the design links the interior and exterior in such a way that the two conditions are experienced as one. Stone was used for the walls of the spine while an expansive skylight allows the home to open to Colorado’s deep blue sky by day and thousands of stars every night. Expansive and operable walls of glass respond to sweeping mountain views and blur the boundaries between interior and exterior space. At the center of the spine, a courtyard with a water feature is allowed to flow into the heart of the home, suggesting that the architecture is simultaneously a frame for, and a natural extension of, the land.
