Architecture

The concept of the Threshold House is to blend the home with the site by creating a series of strong parallel walls that extend from inside to outside and therefore blur the boundaries between the two conditions. The walls, clad in slate, extend past or stop short of where they would be expected to end. By doing this we took the traditional building corner out of our design toolbox, resulting in extended threshold spaces between inside and out. The placement of the walls on the site was a precise orchestration to frame desired mountain views from interior spaces while blocking less desirable views.
