Landscape

The home is not on the mountain but instead it is of the mountain; it belongs to it. The landscape and the architecture live together. Elements flow from the landscape to the home and back again making it difficult to determine where nature ends, and the home begins: the monolithic granite boulders that adorn the landscape merge with the walls of granite that form the spine; the hillside flows onto the house and seamlessly becomes the living roof; the courtyard cuts into the middle of the spine allowing water to dance its way into the heart of the home.
